Northern Virginia Urban League Guild

The Guild is an auxiliary of the Northern Virginia Urban League (NOVAUL) affiliate.  Our purpose is to promote an agenda which supports the NOVAUL; including fundraising, membership and program initiatives, but our main focus is on activities involving
our youth.

NOVAUL Guild membership is open to all persons, regardless of race, creed, religion, age, gender or economic status. Guild members (Guilders) support the Guild By-Laws, Guild program activities, and willingly uphold the mission of the NOVAUL.
All Guilders must be financial members of the NOVAUL and the Guild.

OUR HISTORY

The National Urban League Guild was organized in 1942 by Mrs. Mollie Moon of New York City. Mrs. Moon was the Guild’s founder and first president. She served as the National Guild President until her death in 1991. In May 1995, Carlton and Margaret Stockton hosted a group of approximately 50 persons to assess their interest in forming a Guild auxiliary for the Northern Virginia Urban League (NOVAUL) in Alexandria, VA. There was great enthusiasm in favor of the idea and the process was accomplished quickly and efficiently.  In August 1996, at the National Conference in New Orleans, NOVAUL Guild received its charter. The NOVAUL Guild has served the community for over 20 years.
