MLK Day of Service

On January 15, 2018 millions will come together to volunteer and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, who never stopped asking the question, "What are you doing for others?" The MLK Day of Service is a moment to work together to fulfill King's vision for a better America - it's a day "on" instead of a “off”.

This year, join the Northern Virginia Urban League Young Professionals Network as we partner with Shiloh Baptist Church –Alexandria, VA for our MLK Day of Service project on Monday, January 15, 2018.

Our day will begin at the NVULYPN HQ. Volunteers are expected to arrive at 8:30 am and will enjoy light refreshments.

At 8:45 am. We will walk to Shiloh Baptist Church (1429 Duke Street) for their opening ceremony and volunteers will breakout into their selected service projects. Each volunteer has two service project options.

Option 1: Assembling Toiletry Kits for Homeless Shelters.

YPN will be collecting toiletry items and monetary donations leading up to this event and the day of *

Location - Shiloh Baptist Church 4th Floor Middle Room

Time - 10:00 am – 2:15pm

Or

Option 2: Habitat for Humanity – Restore (Sorting, stocking and removing items from Van) *waiver will need to be completed for this option*

Location- 869 South Pickett St, Alexandria, VA

Time - 11:00 am until 2:00 pm
