Join Week (Day 6): Fighting Food Insecurity: Feeding Children & Families (Community Service Event)

**20 Volunteers Needed**. Come Join us as we pack food 12:30-2:30pm packages of fresh produce, rice and beans for the 2000 families that Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) feeds each week.

We will then grab a bite to eat from 2:30-4:00pm and socialize after the event.

Food Drive  (January 5, 2017- February 4, 2017)

Join YPN's food drive for Arlington Food Assistance Center's (AFAC) backpack buddies program which provides weekend and holiday meal packs to homeless and food-insecure Arlington County school-aged children. Unfortunately for many local youth, school meals are the only nourishment they receive daily, so on weekends and over long holidays, the children often go without any food at all.  That fact is why this food drive is so important to YPN!  Will you donate and help us collect these very important meals? We will be collecting three items to contribute: 1. Chef Boyardee meal cups, 2. Mac-&-cheese cup and 3. 100% small fruit juice boxes.  These items will be paired with other foods in the backpacks and there will be enough food in each pack to feed each child for two days (six meals, plus snacks).

Where to find the Items? 
Grocery store, target, Sam's, Costco, Online- amazon, etc.  Items can be bought individually or in packs.
